Well, the session with Sam Kininger (Soulive, Lettuce) was nothing short of awesome! He came in and essentially put on a funk clinic for a few hours and sounded great on everything. Cannot wait to mix this session, but there's more tracking to be done. On the whole, a very efficient night, as Jabas was able to get in a second tracking session. The album is definitely coming together and this session was positively energizing for the band, as we began to hear things continue to take shape!
This week holds new excitement for Clarion Productions. We are hosting our first recording session for a major label artist. Sam Kininger (BMG - Japan) will be in the studio tracking a couple of tunes for the upcoming Jabas album. Man, we are excited and promise to at least post some pictures if not video, too.
New location, new website, new approach.
The studio has been extremely busy for the past few months working on Jabas' debut album. Jabas is a funky, Boston-based band with a diesel horn section (I play trumpet) and more swagger than you can handle. Until the album is done being recorded (~end of May), there won't be a whole lot else going on. An occasional hip-hop session, certainly, but the focus is on tracking and mixing this album. So far it's sounding amazing, but as always, there's room to improve. At some point, I will detail the painstaking process this band has endured in recording this work of art, but I'll save that for another day... |
